Most restaurant owners who want branded sushi tubes do not have a packaging designer. They have a logo file, a brand colour, and a rough idea of how the tube should look.
That is enough to start. You do not need to understand dielines, dot gain or quiet zones to get a well-printed tube — you need a supplier who handles that part and tells you plainly what they need from you.
This guide explains both halves of that exchange: what we send you within 24 hours of your enquiry, and what we need from you to print a custom logo sushi push pop tube correctly the first time.

That list exists because these are the eight things that cause reprints. Rather than expecting you to know them, we send them first.
For a quotation and mockup, three things are enough:
Your logo — vector preferred (AI, EPS, PDF), but we can work from a high-resolution PNG
Your brand colours — Pantone codes if you have them, or just tell us "this red" and we will match it
Substrate preference — kraft (natural brown) or white coated board, or ask us to recommend one
That is the entire starting requirement. Everything else we resolve during the mockup stage.

If you or your designer want to understand the constraints behind the dieline, this section explains them. Everything here is already built into the template we send — this is context, not homework.
A tube label is not a rectangle. It is a wrap that closes back onto itself, and its width is set by the tube diameter:
Circumference = π × diameter
For a D50 mm tube: 3.1416 × 50 = 157.08 mm So a standard D50 × H220 mm sushi tube offers roughly 157 mm horizontally and 220 mm vertically — before the seam overlap is added and the safe areas are deducted. Our dieline has both adjustments applied already, which is why designing on it matters more than calculating your own rectangle.
"360° full wrap" means the graphic continues all the way around. It does not mean the joint disappears. Somewhere on every tube there is a vertical line where the wrap closes, and anything sitting on it will be interrupted or misaligned.
Three consequences:
Keep the logo off the seam. Our dieline marks the seam position, so the primary mark can sit on the front face, opposite the joint.
Avoid fine horizontal rules crossing the seam. A 1 mm registration shift is invisible in a photo but obvious in a hairline that steps at the joint.
Design pattern repeats to tile. A repeating background must meet itself at the seam, or it produces a visible break.
The top edge is rolled or capped and the base accommodates the plunger's travel. Artwork extends into these zones, but critical content cannot survive there. The safe-area values in your dieline pack define exactly where type is protected.
This is where most colour complaints originate, and it is worth two minutes of your attention even if a designer handles the rest.
Kraft is brown, uncoated and absorbent. Ink is translucent, so every colour printed over brown board reads darker, warmer and duller than the same ink on white. Dot gain on uncoated stock deepens it further. Pastels, light blues and clean whites suffer most — some are simply unachievable on kraft.
You have three routes, and we will recommend one based on your logo:
Design for the brown. Restrict the palette, lean on heavy blacks and earthy tones, and let the substrate become part of the identity. Cheapest, and often the best-looking result.
Add a white ink underprint. An opaque white layer prints first, your colours print on top. Restores colour fidelity, adds an ink station and cost.
Use white coated board. If accurate brand colour matters more than a kraft look, this is the direct solution.
Pantone codes carry a suffix: C for coated stock, U for uncoated. The same numbered colour looks meaningfully different across the two, which is why Pantone publishes separate guides.
If your brand manual specifies a coated value and you print on uncoated kraft, the result will not match the chip in your book. We flag this when we see it — if your brand red is a C value and you have chosen kraft, we will tell you before production, not after.
A cylinder curves away from both the eye and the scanner.
Quiet zone: the ISO standard requires a clear margin of 4 modules on all sides. If each module is 1 mm, the clear border must be at least 4 mm.
Minimum size: the floor under ISO 18004 is around 10 × 10 mm, with modules at least 0.25 mm. In practice, 20 × 20 mm is the reliable minimum for phone scanning.
Scan distance: the working guideline is a 10:1 ratio — a code meant to scan from 200 mm should be about 20 mm across.
On a D50 tube the curve is sharp, so codes belong on the flattest visible area, centred on a face and well clear of the seam.
Orientation matters more on a cylinder than a box. On small-diameter tubes, running the bars parallel to the tube axis is the safer default, so the curve does not compress bar widths across the scan path. The recommended orientation is marked in your dieline pack.
Small type on absorbent uncoated stock fills in, and reversed-out type (white on dark) fills in faster because ink spreads inward from every edge of the letterform. The minimum reproducible size for your chosen substrate is included in your dieline pack — you do not need to guess it.

Two constraints we apply automatically: no foil, embossing or spot UV placed across the seam, and every special finish separated onto its own named layer before plates are made.

One request: do not redraw, stretch or rotate the dieline. It encodes tooling geometry. If the design needs different dimensions, ask us for a revised dieline and we will issue one.
A digital mockup confirms layout, spelling and hierarchy. It cannot confirm colour, because a backlit screen emits light while printed board reflects it.
The sequence:
Digital mockup — composition, copy, panel orientation, seam placement
Physical sample — colour on the real substrate, finish quality, foil registration, seam appearance
Scan test — scan the QR code and barcode on the physical sample with an ordinary phone
Fit test — load a real sushi roll and operate the plunger
Only after the physical sample passes does bulk production begin.
